ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14th

This year Ash Wednesday (the mark of the beginning of Lent) falls on Valentine’s Day. We will hold our Ash Wednesday service in the church sanctuary at 7:00 PM. During that worship experience participants receive ashes created from the previous year’s palms of Palm Sunday in the form of a cross. I wonder if this year we should mark our foreheads with hearts instead?! I think we will keep the cross motif. But as we repeat the words, “From ashes you have come; to ashes you shall return” perhaps we may hear anew the message that it is “From Love that we have come and to Love we shall return”.
