CALLING ALL YOUTH AND PARENTS OF YOUTH
Old Bergen Church is planning to hire a new youth director to lead ministries with middle school and high school students. We need your input as we develop the job description and expectations. We will hold a youth and parent lunch and program for middle school and high school students and their parents Sunday, February 24th, after worship from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Lunch will be provided.

Jersey City Together will hold its annual meeting on Monday night, February 25th from 7:30 - 9:00 pm at Saint Peter's University, Dineen Hall. We will elect officers and decide on priorities for the coming year. Each congregation is asked to bring 3 - 7 leaders to the meeting.

Ash Wednesday Service

Since the sixteenth century many Christians in Ireland and the United Kingdom have observed the onset of Lent with Shrove Tuesday pancakes. This arose from the practice of Christians observing a season of fasting from rich foods during Lent. The pancake meals were a means of ridding homes of eggs, butter and fat. During the season of Lent we encourage you to set aside an offering for the purpose of helping those in need throughout the world. We do this each year through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering – which supports disaster assistance, hunger relief, and the self development of people. We would like to thank all those volunteers who assisted with meals, snacks, donations and other assistance while four families found refuge at Old Bergen Church from March 17 to March 31. Words cannot express the comfort and support these families experienced in finding a temporary home here at the church during their housing crisis. Jersey City Together will hold an education action with acting superintendent Mr. Franklin Walker and school board president Mr. Sudhan Thomas. West Point Cadets Visit OBC
We are pleased to host a group of West Point Cadets at Old Bergen Church again this year. These students are participating in a multi-cultural spring course called “Winning the Peace” They will visit various groups, government entities and faith communities learning how to relate to others in a multi-cultural context. Their visit to Old Bergen will take place on Friday morning, April 5th, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.

Join us as we celebrate Palm Sunday on April 14that 11:00 AM. We will observe this festival day with processionals, palm branches, confetti and special music. We are especially excited to have Broadway singer and friend of Old Bergen, Angela Birchett, along with actor/singer Justin Friesen will provide special music.
