Since the sixteenth century many Christians in Ireland and the United Kingdom have observed the onset of Lent with Shrove Tuesday pancakes. This arose from the practice of Christians observing a season of fasting from rich foods during Lent. The pancake meals were a means of ridding homes of eggs, butter and fat. Here at Old Bergen Church, we will offer a Pancake Breakfast hosted by Sarah and Donald Folk, on Sunday, March 10^th at 9:45 AM in Brett Hall. All are welcome. There is no charge for the breakfast, but donations will be accepted.
