SUMMARY:OBC Food Pantry
DESCRIPTION:Our next Food Pantry distribution will be Saturday\, June 27th\, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. \nIn preparation for the distribution\, we are in need of volunteers who will come by the church for an hour (one or two at a time) and sort the non-perishable food into primary and secondary bags for quick distribution on the 27th. Masks and gloves will be provided. Please call the church office  to schedule a time when you can come and assist in this important ministry. \nWe want to thank the many volunteers whose coordinated efforts make it possible to continue our ministry of food security for those in our community who are most vulnerable. Due to the need for extra precautions and social distancing\, we have had to make some adjustments to out Food Pantry. Masks and gloves have become the standard “uniform” of all volunteers. We have been following guidelines provided by the NJ Community Food Bank and the Jersey City Department of Health & Human Services. \nWe thank those who help with the pick up and unloading of supplies from the NJ Community Food Bank. We thank those who come in on different days during the month to sort and bag the groceries in preparation for our distribution day. We thank you for the four volunteers who carry out the Food Pantry distribution as intake workers\, food handler and organization of clients while observing social distance. Finally\, we thank all those whose contributions make this minor miracle happen each month – even in the midst of the Covid 19 epidemic. \nWe have seen a significant rise in the number of people who are seeking food assistance for the very first time in their lives. Now more than ever\, our efforts are needed and appreciated by the community. Our next Food Pantry distribution will be Saturday\, May 30th from 9:00 AM until 12:00 noon.
