OBC Cemetery Restoration Project

Old Bergen Church continues in its work to restore its historic cemetery – dating back to the late 1600’s. Most recently, we received preliminary approval at a public hearing for a grant for $100,000 from the Hudson County Open Space Trust Grant. These funds will help restore some of the damaged headstones and begin work on landscaping measures to make the nearly two acres of green space safe for public use.
This is the first phase of a project to open the cemetery to the public and share the cultural treasure of place and story that exists right here in our community. We plan to begin work in September 2018.
