April 19 @ 9:30 am - April 28 @ 8:30 pm EDT
There are three opportunities for you to observe Good Friday with Old Bergen Church. There will be a community ecumenical Prayer Walk beginning at 9:30 AM on the corner of Emory Street and Monticello Avenue. The processional, which recalls the last hours of Christ’s suffering and death, will stop at sites where suffering and violence has occurred in our own city. This moving experience of the Stations of the Cross offers prayers of healing and new life in those places where God’s heart breaks today. It lasts about one and a half hours and will conclude at the Jersey City Police Department station at 1 Jackson Street.
The Chapel of Peacewill be open from noon until 3:00 PM for those who wish to gather for prayer, scripture reading and singing in observance of Good Friday.
At 7:00 PM we will hold a Good Friday Tennebrae Service of Light and Darknessrecalling the story of Christ’s crucifixion. This dramatic service will be held in the church sanctuary and concludes in silence and darkness as we reflect upon the costly gift of God’s grace through Christ.
